ENHANCING LEADERSHIP FOR SECURITY MANAGERS
Operational Overview
To provide security leaders and managers with the knowledge and skills to develop and execute strategic and operational plans in line with their organisation’s mission statement objectives, and vision.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this unit, delegates will be able to:
1. Demonstrate an operational understanding of the security function at work including the criminal justice system, law and legislation, formal writing, and initial investigation.
2. Evaluate the national and local policy context in which security operates.
3. Analyse leadership theories and critically apply them to their own personal effectiveness as a leader and manager.
4. Create policy plans, to deliver effective change within their strategic and operational spheres of influence.
5. Evaluate the statutory and organisational procedures that impact on security processes in the workplace.
6. Evaluate and assess threat and vulnerability as it relates to the environment and create operational action plans for investigation, crime reduction, crime prevention and scene management.
Assessment
Formative assessment points will be built into the digital and in-person learning, and each unit will be formatively assessed. The synoptic summative assessment is a 4,000 word work-based project that will be negotiated with the course team and will address all course learning outcomes.
